A little help on interpreting “PX” & “SX”?  Couldn’t find a glossary on BaseballHQ.com, terms don’t appear to be included in Fangraphs’, and Google gave me nothing.

.... are Shandler's acronyms for Power Index and Speed Index.  A player with a 100 has major-league average power or speed.  Figgins' power index last year was unpossible.

If you want to know more about what he means by "power" and "speed," let me know :- )

Nah, but thanks Jeff! :-) I think I've got it (at least a hazy notion of a vague understanding of we're talking about) now...

So many new and changing acronyms, so little consistency, so few glossaries.  It can make it hard for some of us in the back of the pack to keep up with the conversation, here and elsewhere, which causes frustration in direct proportion to the discussion's II (interestingness index) score.

You give him 10-15 regular season games and if he doesn't hit at all...he's gone IMHO...If he shows any sign of life leading off...you're not losing anything letting him play til June...it's not like Seager would be hurt, long term, by playing in AAA...he might learn a few things there yet.

Though Figgins is one guy you could see playing himself out of a job.

Might or might not be logical, but if on March 25 he's got 2 BB, 10K and is hitting .121 you could see an alarmed M's staff changing its mind.

What if Ichiro is stuck in a rut with the new stance and batting 3rd?

Interesting potentials for sure!

Clearly...Ichiro does not like Figgins.  LOL  That is the most non-commital answer I've ever heard him give...and um...he's not exactly an uber-talkative fellow.

In Ichiro-speak:  ARE YOU BRAIN-DEAD.  I'M NOT GOING IN THERE WITH TWO JEDI.

Ichiro does not think highly of typical American ballplayers' attitudes to start with, and Chone Figgins is several steps behind the typical American ballplayer.  Can easily imagine Ichiro's disbelief that Figgins is in organized baseball, much less in the lineup, much less taking his spot.
