Ichiro's season this year is insane.

I can't imagine that hes going to continue at this pace, but if it does and the Ms squeek into the playoffs..he has a shot at another MVP.

...what was that you were saying about Ichiro having lost his power? :)

Matt,

I am ecstatically happy to learn that Ichiro has someone interpreting my internet musing for him, and he has elected to prove me uncategorically wrong.

I was just teasing you, Sandy...truthfully, I am surprised that Ichiro has refound his power stroke. :)

And his gut is glossed up and new.

Most Japanese physical activities, regardless of kendo, judo, aikido, baseball, etc., typically emphasize torso strength and focus. Given his gut being back to normal, somehow I'm not very surprised.

And it's not just WBC either. Ichiro is known to harbor stress. I wouldn't be surprised if he had had a burning gut the last 3 years, let alone the beginning of the season.

(Speaking of WBC, I'm not convinced in the least it has to do anything with Matsuzaka's recent demise. Matsuzaka has been ridden hard and his decline is consistent with the Oakland 3, age and workload-wise.)

The US facing Brazil at the finals? Thats absolutely nuts.

If Soccer had any kind of popularity in the US it would be serious news. :-)

Soccer will never be popular in the US.  Not EVER.

For reasons best articulated in the past at DOV.

I think it's time we tested Ichiro for Performance Enhancing Cybernetic Implants ;)
